Memorial weekend

On Memorial weekend we decided to just get out of town and enjoy some fresh air! We left Saturday A.M. with some friends and stopped off at Montezuma Castle to see some new sites. We traveled up to Flagstaff and the funny part for me was that the whole time I felt like I was going to participate in a "sandlot" hurling session because I was sitting in the backseat. I couldn't believe how long it had been since I went on a trip in the back seat!! I am so accustomed to watching the road!! But, I kept it to myself and just tried to enjoy the trip. Our friends offered to drive and so I just kicked back and enjoyed the view. Cindy was watching Connor move and kick the whole trip and that is amusing on its own! Sometimes I hear Cindy start giggling softly and I will look over at her and she is touching her belly "Hi Fiving " my little man. It is fun to see Cindy enjoying her pregnancy! We had fun chatting and getting to know our friends better as well. We used to be their single adult advisers before they were married. Once at Flag and went out to eat, checked in our room and then went at night to the Observatory.

We had fun seeing the satellite and going on some tours. Then we were able to see the moon and things! I think I enjoyed it more then Cindy though. I love stars and looking at constellations. They have so many pictures of deep space phenomenons that are just fascinating. (Some nights I go out to water my lawn or flowers and it is good thinking time. I love it! The planes that come in every 47 seconds get annoying, but the temple really adds to the spirit and it is great meditating time where I can leave the fast paced world and focus on something inner, something more personal. I love to reflect on my mission and Peru and far away places and friends!) We then woke up and went to church. We enjoyed the ward we went to. They were really nice! Then we took a long nap! We woke up and went on a drive to Oak Creek Canyon and down into Sedona. It was so relaxing! I loved the views and the wind up there was really strong and beautiful! I loved the
clean air! We took a few pics and here are a few.

On our way back up the mtn we saw alot of elk and stopped to take pics of them. There was like 18 and they were just sitting there on the side of the road so I got out and hopped the guard rail to see how close I could get to them since they were just sitting there eating. I got a great shot of one of their BEHINDS! (It made me remember the time right out of high school when Terry, Ira, Chase and I were hanging out with some girls in Round Valley and we came upon a massive heard of Elk and we chased them and almost got ran over) When we got back to the Hotel we had a hilariously competitive game of Monopoly. The next morning we went to Sedona and spent the day there. It was a nice trip and we made some good memories!
I had to do some catch up when we got home on some yard work and plant some flowers that I bought right before the trip. It was fun to get back home and do some work outside in the yard!
